Anti-Climb Spikes are coming to the White House

The White House’s security is getting a makeover.

Last year, a man named Omar Gonzalez scaled the fence at the White House and managed to infiltrate the building. This security breach has called the National Park Service and the Secret Service into taking more action to keep this from happening again. So, the solution they have come to is to install anti-climb spikes. This will probably take effect sooner rather than later, but there is no exact date yet.

Why anti-climb spikes?

Well, the anti-climb spikes certainly address the issue of pedestrians climbing the fence. Thes spikes will increase the security of the fence while allowing passing tourists to still have a clean view of the White House for photographs and sentimental gazing. In the end, it seems as though these spikes will be the right solution for the security issue without sacrificing the beauty of the area.

The White House is getting updated.

After the breach mentioned above, it seems that more of the White House’s security will be getting a facelift. The outer areas will be updated so that they are climb and blast proof. Pedestrian areas and areas that can be accessed by car will be updated as well. The issue needs to be voted on, but it seems that these new safety measures could be implemented as soon as the summer of 2016.
