Bollard K-Ratings

The K-rating system for bollards is a scaling system for the amount of protection a bollard provides against vehicles. The different K ratings indicate at what maximum speed the bollards will stop a moving 15,000-pound vehicle. The scaling system comes in three levels: K4, K8, K12. At K4, the bollard can stop a 15,000-pound vehicle at 30 MPH. At K8, the speed becomes 40 MPH, and finally, K12 is able to stop a 15,000-pound vehicle at 50 MPH.
