Are you a fence owner? It is important to keep in mind that most fences won’t last forever. This is especially the case for non-metal fences. After so many years of withstanding the natural elements, many fences are going to eventually need to be torn down and replaced. It can be difficult to tell when it is time to move on from your existing fence and invest in a new one. Here are some indicators you should always try to keep an eye out for.
Rot
This is one of the most obvious indicators that you are in need of a new fence. Rot should always raise a lot of concern. If you ever spot rot on your fence, you should immediately know that it is not good news. A wooden fence that is experiencing decay is likely not structurally sound. You may be lucky and may just be that only a board or two is rotting out. If this is the case, you can probably just replace those areas with new materials; however, if the rot has progressed through areas of your fence you may just need to start planning for a replacement fence.
It Is Getting Too Expensive To Fix
If you are getting to point where it is getting costly to replace components of your fence, you are probably better off replacing the entire fence. From a financial perspective, it does not make sense to keep investing money in a fence when you can just buy a new one.
Loose Or Missing Materials
Is your fence decades old? Over time, materials that are apart of your fence are going to go missing. It is very common for screws and nails to come out of your fence over time. It is also not uncommon for fence posts to become loose either. It is not a good sign if you have noticed that several components of your fence are missing or are loose.
