There are a number of defensive shrubs and trees that can be bolstered to a fence panel or posts – though for best results, these should be used in conjunction with stainless steel or galvanized fixtures.
Another option is to invest in a fence that may seem somewhat archaic and dredge up visions of Vlad the Impaler by choosing a fence with manufactured spikes on top. Of course, should you choose to go this route, it would be best to post warning signs, in the event that you have an adventurous child who likes to climb fences.
Anti-climb fencing can be incredibly effective, provided you don’t provide any unintentional access points. Leaving wheelbarrows or furniture in a place where anyone could get it, drag it over to your fence, and use it as a step-up to get into your property defeats the purpose of having anti-climb fencing. So be careful where you leave things laying around!
