Facilities frequently choose barrier arms to ensure adequate protection of buildings from outsider entry. Barrier arms are used to prevent a 15,000 lb vehicle from being able to obtain entry onto a facility or government site. As an industry standard, you’ll frequently see barrier arms incorporated on military bases or government property. Barrier arms usually have gates attached to them, which can vary from drop arm crash beam gates to general crash beam gates. These can be dangerous for anyone who doesn’t adhere properly to preventative safety measures, which you should always follow around barrier arm gates.

Hercules Fence Proudly Announces the Completion of a Newly Developed Environment for the Endangered Whooping Crane
Friday, January 11th, 2019
There were many materials used during the duration of this project, including a 12-foot high chain link fence with a dig barrier included at the base to prevent predators from entering the enclosure.
Hercules Fence is proud to announce the completion of a recent project for the National Zoo’s Smithsonian Biological Conservation Institute (SBCI). This project now provides a safe and comfortable haven for the whooping crane, an endangered bird species. While there are unfortunately less than 900 whooping cranes in existence to date, this new environment located in Front Royal, Virginia provides potential as an area where these birds can safely breed and thereby develop a self-sustaining population. This point alone is one of the many reasons why Hercules Fence is proud to be a part of this incredible project. (more…)

3 Reasons Why You Should Buy A Fence This Winter
Friday, January 19th, 2018Does My Facility Need High Security Fencing?
Thursday, October 16th, 2014Those who work in a variety of different facilities often ask themselves the question: Are we in need of high security fencing? They may believe that high security fencing is perhaps an unnecessary expense or that a basic alarm system will be enough to keep their facility secure. But before you jump to any conclusions, it is important to first ask yourself the following questions to determine for sure whether this essential security measure needs to be taken.
Does my facility contain sensitive material, including documents, files, or other items?
Some facilities contain information that absolutely needs to stay confidential. More often than not, unfortunately, confidential information is highly sought after, and not always by the most reputable people. In order to protect this information, implementing high security fencing into your design can help deter intruders and keep their hands off of your vital materials.
Does your facility host important personnel or guests on a regular basis?
If the people who work at your facility have a high level security clearance or you often invite important guests (i.e. diplomats, politicians), there is a chance that these people are higher-risk targets. With the added peace of mind and security of high security fencing, you can ensure that anyone who visits your facility will be safe.
Is your facility located in a high-risk area?
If the surrounding area of your facility has a high rate of crime, then it becomes that much more important to augment your security features. A high security fence can keep out criminals and provide you with the protection you need for both your employees and the materials stored in your facility.
