In residential areas, a fence of at least five feet in height is optimal for security, while commercial fences can reach up to six or eight feet. The higher your fence is, the more it will discourage climbing attempts. When you increase the chain-link gauge, you ensure that the metal becomes thicker, making the fence much more difficult to cut or deform during intrusion attempts.
Choose Welded Over Woven
A chain-link fence is traditionally woven together to form each section and bind it together securely. While this weaving method is easy to install, it can be improved. Having the chain-link joints welded together can make installation more challenging, but when done correctly makes your secure chain link fence even more so.

While a secure chain link fence is more limited in its materials than other security fences, you still have a few options. Most of these fences will be made with aluminum because it is durable and inexpensive.
